PAC Mission Statement

The Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain will work to establish an environment in which the pike are valued, both as sporting fish and a necessary part of the management and ecology of fresh waters.

Pike conservation and the PAC

The Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain was formed in 1977 as a direct result of changing attitudes toward pike. For far too long pike had been regarded by fishery owners and some anglers as vermin, to be killed and removed at all costs. Since its inception, the PAC has done much to drastically change this mistaken attitude and pike are now widely regarded as a positive element in the natural balance of any fishery. Like any other fish, pike should be respected and valued for their sporting potential and should be returned to the water alive and well. Thanks to the work of the PAC many more waters are beginning to realize their pike fishing potential.

However, despite lots of scientific data showing that removal of pike does more harm than good, there are still water companies and fishery owners, angling clubs and anglers who believe that the only good pike is a dead one! They are out of tune both with the needs of their fisheries and those of the pike angler. There has never been a greater need for a strong club to represent the interests of the pike and the pike angler, which is why we need you. For a moderate annual subscription you can help the PAC by supporting the fight against the threats to pike and pike fishing. Such support gives the PAC strength to continue to persuade and educate the ignorant or misinformed.

What you get from the PAC

The PAC is organised into Regional Associations, usually centred on a town or borough. There are around 70 RAs run by experienced pike anglers. The RA's have a varied membership of both experienced and inexperienced anglers. Each RA holds regular very informal and sociable meetings to discuss piking. Special trips and events may also be arranged, mainly to benefit nemagazine imagew members. Your local RA is the place to get a great start for your pike fishing. All members receive a quarterly, quality magazine called Pikelines, which has much of interest to new members. It has articles by top pike anglers on all aspects of the sport, tackle tips, advice, stories and news from the world of pike fishing, plus much more.

All members are encouraged to contribute to Pikelines, no matter how inexperienced they are. As a PAC member you will be able to fish waters gained via privileged access events run by PAC members, don't miss out on these brilliant opportunities! You also have the opportunity to attend the annual Pike Anglers (the Convention). This is a major event which attracts pike anglers from all over the country. There are presentations by some of the best known pike anglers from the UK and abroad, the tackle trade is always well represented. There are competitions, a workshop specifically for juniors and all manner of other attractions. It is the pike angling event of the year and must not be missed, we hope to see you there.
