Pike Onlinerigs logoMainline(nylon or braid): Spool Knot

Back

When attaching line to the reel spool there is a temptation to use a variety of knots most of which are unsuitable, most serve a purpose for holding the line during loading, but create poor fixing with the risk, should you have the smaller spools and minimum length of line on them, of hooking a big fish that may run a considerable distance taking you down to a bare spool where the knot will need to be your last reserve.

The best advice firstly is to use a reel that can hold 200 metres of 15lb BS line and then to suggest this as the strongest, most suitable knot for attaching this to the spool.

This knot is reliable for both nylon monofilament and braided lines!
