Pike a plenty here.

angler with pike
Swanton Morley is an example of an established and mature Norfolk gravel pit complex and has a pedigree of producing good bags of pike to all methods all season. There are plenty of pike from single figure fish through doubles and fish into mid twenties. A 30lb fish has been reported here on several occasions and there are all the right conditons for this to be an ideal water to produce such fish in the future.

Stocks of roach, rudd, bream, tench, carp, perch and eels make the ideal larder for the girls to grow big here. They do also provide some excellent sport through out the season for the general angler into the bargain.

In addition to the lakes the River Wensum runs alont the north east border of the fishery and this provides access to some good chub sport

Depths are typical of gravel pits generally with shallows and deeps which you will need to find by plumbing, there are various gravel bars that provide ideal features to find and fish to, sunk float paternosted live baits are those to use here. Float legered live and dead baits will sort you out a fish or two on the lakes in general.

Drift fishing is an excellent method here from those swims overlooking large open areas of the fishery, paricularly with a wind on your back. Getting a bait out over the bars and features out of casting range.
