Right route

From Norwich pick up the B1108 from the A47 bypass at Colney and head West towards Watton passing through Barford on to Hingham and out to Scoulton. Here you will pass through a wooded stretch of road and the Mere will be seen on the right. Take the first right after the wood and drive down the lane for 300 yards and enter the car park on the right after the bend.

From the West head for Watton and follow the B1108 East towards Norwich through Carbrooke and on to Scoulton. Look out for the old Pine Work Shoppe on the left on entering Scoulton and the Mere is on the left just after the old chapel!

Pike a plenty here.

angler with pike
Scoulton is an example of classic Norfolk estate lakes and has a pedigree of producing good bags of pike to all methods all season. There are plenty of pike from single figure fish through doubles and currently producing fish into mid twenties. A 32lb fish has been reported here and with the known history of one or two fish over a period of years, this is an achievable weight.

Stocks of roach, rudd, bream, tench, carp, perch and eels to die for make the ideal larder for the girls to grow big here. They do also provide some excellent sport through out the season for the general angler into the bargain.

The fish here is known to have grown onto 25lbs plus and was witnessed on many occasions on its journey to that weight.

Want a different venue then this lake is worth a visit. Bank access is limited. The area highlighted in red is part of the estates shooting area and out of bounds to angling.

Depths are relatively shallow in typical estate lake fashion but float legered live and dead baits will sort you out a fish or two.
